But, still.

Luckily, it hasn't happened to me yet, but a LOT of base-makers get comments about traced bases that, generally, are stupid. Thing like 'Make your own bases!' and 'That's art theft', etc.

And I kinda wanna explain to you that 1: They ARE, in some way, our own bases. You can hunt down two traced bases of the same image and it'll either be shaded different, traced different, have a background, extras, honestly, once you have the base, you can do almost anything to it- add a mustache, stick a cigar in their mouth, etc. See my point?

And, as for the art theft matter, it's simply NOT art theft! In most cases, poeple link back to the original image, give a user name, if need, SHOW permission from the original artist, or, if they can't find the image, they'll say 'I don't own the original picture' , which does NOT go against the dA art theft policy.

And, I also know that A LOT of poeple don't credit the base they dolled on (can't find an examples at the moment, sorry ><. But I had a run-in with this, I asked them to credit me, they asked "why, selfishness?' or something of the sort that I can't remember at the moment, but it's NOT TRUE in the SLIGHTEST! You HAVE to credit me or the original base-maker because it's simply NOT your base! If we have to credit the original image the base was made of, you should have to credit the original base the doll was made on! Not crediting is another form of claiming the base as your own, which IS art theft and you CAN get reported for it. I don't go that far, but if I DO catch someone not crediting my base (if it's because they forgot who made it, it's fine) I ban them from my page. If they don't want to follow my rules, then what's the point of letting them use my bases?

So, do you see my point? I'd LOVE comments on this journal. Lots of thinking was involved :\
